I find this topic of interest as I had/have a similar problem with my '92 Allante. I left the lights on while on vacation. No chime or buzzer told me I had done so. If it did, I sure did not hear it! 3 days later; well, you know the rest of the story ....

on sunday i left my lights on again.i must drive at dusk often.i bought an aftermarket headlights reminder but it says hook to the dash lights fuse.my car doesn't seem to have any interior lights that come on with the headlights.i guess i will have to wire it to the headlight switch unless someone else has an idea.

The shifter lights on an '88/89 are 110 volts [remember they have an inverter? Don't know about the '90/91].

Sometime ago I tested some shifter panels I had with an extension cord with a bare end wire. Can't remember now how I did it, but remember thinking how cool it was to be testing something from a car with 110 volts sitting at my desk...

Be careful when powering an EL panel from a 110vac wall socket. The inverter in the car is a high frequency device (my guess is around 1KC.)and the 60 cycle wall current will cause the panel to be dim and if left on for more than a few seconds will cause catastrophic failure
