Guest willeys41
There was a Stromberg U 5062719 and a carter bb-1 model 245 sd 0-544 ??Not sure if its orig but it will grt me down the road for now.Have a guy that bought a bunch of Dodge,DeSoto,Ply,Chry etc that is all NEW orig Parts but all in big crates. He has not gotten to it yet.Waiting to see what he has. Thanks for the help.Dave
keiser31
The Stromberg sounds as if it might be the original. The clue will be in the carb to manifold throat size. The BB1 I had on my '31 DH6 created turbulence because the carb outlet was larger than the manifold inlet.
Guest willeys41
Got the rebuilt carb back and put on today.Made it a block, ran good, everything worked THAN the carb let lose, dumping gas all over.Would not run.Had to get trailer.Carb going back to shop, try again next week.Dave
Guest willeys41
I wish i would Know this before rebuilt.Right on Keiser 31,the Carter came off the extra eng.the carb throat was bigger by 3/4in.The stromberg is the right one.Tried it but gas pours out of it everwhere. But it did drive and run good with the couple blocks i made it.Dave
keiser31
You may need one of those DRT-08 carbs that are on ebay right now. They are perfect for these engines. The one I was thinking about on ebay was about $525.00 or so. Seems like a lot, but they are hard to find.
Guest willeys41
The guy on e-bay called me and said he can make a adaptor for the carter carb to work on the smaller manifold. How do you think this would work??? Thanks Dave

Guest willeys41
Keiser, you won,t belive it.The Carb was not it at all.It works good.3 day to find it.Went to the points to see, next was going to be Valves but some one in the last 45yrs put the point bolts on the post, one on top and one on bottom so the post was moving all over the place.Put new points in and runs like a dream. Was ready to chew rebuild guy out .Carb quit pouring gas out now.Next the clutchIs slipping.Try to find one tomorrow. TexRiv_63
Dave,That is a very interesting car, is it like other "sedan deliveries" with a door in the back? Were the rear windows closed in from the factory? I'd like to see more photos of the back when you have time. Great project and good luck!
