engine i.d. needed for a riv gs 455

have a 73 buick gs rivvy, was wondering if there's a way to i.d . it, not worrying to much about the engine so was wandering if vin# on the title would verify, ANYONE! i know the stamp on the block should be xa or xf but i'm alittle handycap, i hopped out a my wheel chair and peeked in under the hood but didn't see nothing above the exaust manifold , so for now i wanna know if the car itself is a true gs, it has the stage 1 chrome air cleaner, and the engine, it's red/orange and paint faded, don't really look like any one did any changes. ANYONE?
