wws944
Was at a PickNPull that has a '90 today. Interestingly, it had a portfolio in it. The portfolio was nearly empty, but one item that was still in it was the Craftsmans Log.I reported in a recent thread on a '91 that the Craftsmans Log it had looked identical to one that I found in a '90 about a year ago. And indeed, the one I found today looks exactly like the other two. They are absolutely identical. However all three of these look very different from the one that actually came with my car - which looks like it may have been hand signed. (Note that my Reatta has been in the family since new. My Craftsmans Log dates from when my dad took delivery of the car from the dealer in 1991.)It is now clear that some were pre-printed and some were hand signed. So what is the story here? Maybe Buick simply had a batch of them printed up for owners who had lost, or perhaps never received, their Craftsmans Logs?Curious minds want to know. Guest steveskyhawk
I have a letter that came with a complete portfolio that explains this. Some 1990s and possibly 91s were delivered with just the owners manual. (probably a federal regulation) The portfolio was delivered at a later date and the owner was instructed to put it in one of the storage compartments behind the seat. The letter is clear. It explains that a "copy" of a Craftsmans log was included. Those Craftsman's logs that appear to be copies are authentic. I also have portfolios that have individually signed Craftsman's logs. Go figure.

Guest steveskyhawk
The insert that barney has is not the letter I was speaking of. The letter I am referring to came with the portfolio whent he portfolio did not get delivered with the car.
wws944
Thanks Steve and Barney. That would explain it. I was thinking that the early '90s came with the Craftsmans Log, and that when the rest of the portfolio became available, the owner would insert it. But this seems not the case. wws944
I should add that this '90 was indeed a relatively low serial number (900408). But the one from a year ago had a fairly high serial number in the 7000s.

Barney Eaton
I am working on a story that relates to the craftsman log. Part of it is a photo of the 6 people that signed the log, all standing behind a red 1990 convertible.
