edinmass
Hi AJ, those kits are very common and never sell for more than 25 bucks..... Cadillac and Packard both offered them as a factory accessories, Cadillac from 1929 to 1933. Looks very similar. Some had a whisk broom, as well as light bulbs, body polish, spot remover, among other items. Can you post a contents list? Put 160 miles on the 32 coupe yesterday. edinmass
Never mind on the list, I opened HH56's post and found it there. Thanks.
Dave Mitchell
I have one also, but yours is only the third one that I have heard of. If the bulbs are still in your kit, you can look up what the headlight bulb fits and it will narrow it down. I think they had them until at least 1939. They are mentioned in the service letters I think.
HH56
Is that the same headlight bulb that was repro'd by a region or individual and even those are all but NLA now--almost have to mortgage a kid to afford a pair when you find them. Dave Mitchell
I'll look it up, but I think that is the 1937 - 39 bulb. The L may be 37 only. The 1933/34 three filament bulb is a 32/32/32 cp Mazda 3003. I still have a couple originals left.
Steve_Mack_CT
Very nice item, A.J. While you don't want to sell it, you may be interested in knowing that I came across a bulb tin only that looks very similar to yours at Hershey - dealer had a lot of very high quality "smalls" - the Mobile stuff (I collect) was pretty much at market for nice items. The Packard bulb tin was absolutely mint, although I did not check it for contents - his price for the perfect tin alone, $350. Even is you assume that is a "Hershey price" you still have an idea that a full kit is a pretty desirable item.
West Peterson
The bulb tin, alone, is often seen on eBay. Usually in the $10-25 range. I have one on my shelf, and someone just gave it to me (it arrived in the mail from someone here on the forum, if I remember correctly).
Steve_Mack_CT
Interesting. Just goes to show you need to know what you are buying. Gas & oil "smalls" such as banks, tins, grease cans, etc. I know fairly well, and the guy where I saw the Packard bulb tin was at market for mint items that I am familiar with. (If you collect this stuff you know it is everywhere at Hershey, but there are really only 6 - 8 guys who have the top grade condition stuff to see, most of what else shows up is average to poor.) This tin was perfect BUT maybe he just saw dollar signs in the Packard name... My guess is A.J. could do a bit better than Ed's most generous offer for the complete kit, though. Dave Mitchell
I think the bulb for 35 12 is also a 32 - 32. Not sure about the L suffix. Does your dad have a 35 12owner's manual?
