Bleach
I saw this photo posted at the HAMB and was wondering if someone here might have an idea what it was or could be.
keiser31
Looks to be a custom movie car with the rear part being a VW bus!
Bleach
Not likely a VW because the film it was in, "Mr. Dodd Takes the Air" was made in 1937.

mribbich@wi.rr.com
Looks like a 30's Studebaker hood ornament.Marv.
Bleach
It's obviously a custom of some sort but I'm wondering if there some way to tell what it was made from. It sort of looks like a Cadillac from the grille but not quite.
Dave@Moon
IF the photo is new enough, I think the custom body was placed on a late 1960s/early 1970s Eldorado or Toronado chassis. Those wheels look to be highly offset behind those wheel covers, much like the fwd wheels on those GM E-Bodies. Also the car is much too low to have been based on an original 1930s car. Guest prs519
Front headlights highly suggest Pierce Arrow, do they not?Perry
Bleach
The head lights would have been further integrated with the tops of the fenders on a PA.
keiser31
It certainly could have started life out as this Studebaker's brother...
Bleach
Perhaps it could be a Stude.I wonder if it'll ever be possible to find out what this interesting custom limo started life as.
TG57Roadmaster
This car also appears in the 1937 Marx Brothers film, "A Day at the Races," but only briefly and all you see is the roofline. The flic was on TCM last Sunday, and I only caught a glimpse of it in a nightclub scene. Definitely the same car, but finding its source will be difficult. Thanks for the bigger picture of the whole car, it's certainly bizzare!Almost cartoonish, too.TG
