35 Chevy Standard temp guage

I need some help trying to figure out how the temp gauge mounts on the bottom edge of the 35 Chevy Standard dash. I believe I have all the parts or most of them. I gauge is housed in a bracket with a horse shoe type spring clip on top.

So, it appears to slip on to something about 3/4 to 1 inch in dia with the gauge showing beneath the dash lower edge. Anybody have any ideas, manuals, photos, or other documentation illustrating the mounting procedure? Thanks.
