Guest jpatino
Any chance someone could explain to me what all the names are for the different sections for paint. I just scraped some old paint off my car in a few spots and found dark brown paint inside the doors and I scraped some paint off the hood louvres and found what appears to be black with gold pinstriping so it got me wondering what the color combo is for my car. I'm guessing it's one of the 3 combos that has brown in it. Can someone identify what the sections are considered that I numbered in one the images. I've been trying to figure out what reveals are but haven't been able to find any info on the internet. Thanks
Guest studepeople
jpatino:You are asking about colors ? So you must own a 29 President ? What body style? I own a 1930 7pas State sedan, really a '29 as it never sold new in 29, but was titled a 30.....

studeboy
If you have the original floor boards the original paint codes may be stenciled on the board under the rear seat. i had to scrape paint off of my 28 dictator floor board to get to them, but the codes were there still. Guest jpatino
Thanks for the replies. It's a vicky. After sanding some other areas I'm guessing my color combo is Black and Molite Brown. I tried looking under the rear floorboard but the wood was too deteriorated to see any stencil markings. I kinda guessed that #4 were reaveals after removing paint from that area and found some brown there. After comparing it to the color chart, I'm guessing #5 would be the belt. 1, 2, and 3 are the upper, #6 and the fenders are lower. I'm thinking of going with those colors when the day comes for a new paint job. I like the look of black with gold pinstripes and the dark brown. Guest stude8
Just in case you don't have factory literature here are the color schemes from the 1929 President brochure for various body styles.Stude8
Guest jpatino
Thanks Stude8. I've not seen them before. They are all really nice colors. What's interesting to me is the color schemes don't seem to match all the colors listed in the paint list I attached. I wonder if there is a definitive list somewhere with all the colors that were available.
Guest dalestern
If anyone has a color scheme brochure from 1928 I'd be forever grateful. 1928 President 5 pass state sedanMeadow green body/Granite grey fenders/Sierra grey revealsany modern day equivalents to these??? Guest stude8
Since mfgr's didn't publish paint color schemes until 1931 the earlier years like 1928 and 29 are rare to find. I'll attach my collection of Ditzler and DuPont lists if it helps you fellows researching your color schemes. These scans are pretty large and I got a security block message because of the file sizes so I'll just attach Ditzler here and do the DuPont in a second answer.Stude8
Guest stude8
Here are the DuPont Studebaker color schemes.Well another security block due to large files so I'll have to break the Dupont files into two replies also.Stude8

Guest stude8
Another security block from AACA forum so I had to reduce file size of DuPont color code page 1a to get it entered here.Stude8
Guest jpatino
Thanks Stude8. It's nice to see what the original colors actually look like.
