1958 Chevy DelRay Engine Swap

Recommended Posts

I have a 1958 Chevy Delray that originally came with a 235 straight 6. The old motor was shot when I got the car, pretty much rusted solid. I have a 1969 Chevy 307 V8 that runs great, but now that I am trying to bolt the trans up to the engine, everything seems to line up, but I cannot get the transmission to push up to the engine far enough to bolt it together. I put a new pilot bushing in the crank since the engine was originally set up for an automatic, and did not have one installed. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

automatic trans cranks were not drilled for standard trannys.the crank hole is not deep enough, stick a screwdriver in the hole and compare with your tranny.once in a while thay will fit,i have had some that were deep enough but the pilot bushing would fall out.seems that auto cranks were standard shift rejects
