ptt
Ive noticed the last few times I cold started the '90 Convertible (165k) that it would backfire through the throttlebody it seems (sounds like its up top instead of through the exhaust). Just once and then it starts right up and alls well. What area would I look at for the culprite? Thanks.

ptt
Intake valve not shutting properly ? Maybe add some ATF to the oil ?I did do that once with an old Dodge 3/4 ton 383 V8 Pickup truck that had sat out in a field for 7+ years. Seemed to work but every gasket seemed to start hemmoraging oil after that. Im due for an oil change soon so is there an oil additive I could use or maybe just do the ATF and drive it a few miles and then do the oil change? Thanks. wws944
Mine used to backfire a little bit when going off idle when the engine was warm (i.e., closed loop). Combination of fixing a vacuum leak and replacing the fuel pressure regulator solved the problem. Between the two, they were letting unmetered fuel and air into the manifold.
