Joe Block
I placed want ads twice, and each time I get email from the UK (England) with everything I looking for at reasonbile price including shipping, to good to be true. from darrenashford251 <darrenashford251@gmail.com>;I still have the dash switch, the rear deck vent assembly, the frontcondenser, & compressor. I do not have images of them but they are inmint shape and condition. Asking $200 for them including shipping. Iwill ship via UPS or FedEx whichever you prefer and shall acceptpayment via Western union or Money gram. What's your complete shippingaddress? Let me know.As anyone purchased through this source.</darrenashford251@gmail.com>
keiser31
No photos, no buy! That's my motto. I asked a guy from the UK to send me photos of a part once. He told me that his camera was broken, but the part was in mint condition. Needless to say, I kept my money. No offense to people in the UK, but if a new photo of something cannot be produced, chances are it's a scam. There was another thread about this sort of situation recently. The guy lost his money and got no parts.
Bleach
darrenashford251 doesn't even come up on a member search. In this day and age anyone not being able to provide photos is fishy. Also beware of anyone requesting payment via Western union or Money gram.I bought a flywheel from Germany once and the seller provided photos and accepted paypal. DAVE A
Packards; For those of us that have a few years on us, it is so tough to accept that there people out there that have only seperating us from our hard earned funds in mind. Please remember that if it seems too good to be true it usually is. The scams out of England have become legendary here in the US. ANYTHING sent Western Union or Moneygram is usually a scam. You have no recourse after you send the money. They pick it up and you never hear anything again unless it is an attempt to get even more money out of you. Please consider other forms of payment. I am sure when you insist on one, the parts will go away. Actually they were never there in the first place.
Guest bofusmosby
I believe that I was contacted by the same scamer last year. The wording was pretty much exact to what was sent to you. It's a scam!

60FlatTop
Mine was Chris Hammersmith from Blackpool. I did a search and found him scamming a few forums.Bernie
Terry Bond
They also collect email addresses to pass around among the other scammers. Don't respond our you might end up with some other interesting offers! Amazing how we hear of people carrying on lengthy conversations with them. Harold
I received a bogus-looking generic response to a parts wanted ad from the UK a few weeks ago. It got deleted immediately.
Matt Harwood
If anyone offers to buy "your item" at asking price, it's a scam. If they offer to sell you "the item you requested" it's a scam. Vague = scam.I played with one of these guys for a few weeks, stringing them along, continually changing the "item" I wanted to buy from a 1941 Buick grille (which was the first thing he offered), to a barbeque grille, then to a plasma TV, and finally a horse. All along he kept at it, insisting that he had "the item" and would I please just send the money via Western Union. Bah.
60FlatTop
I had a nice old transmission jack for sale on Craig's List a week ago. The reply read "Do you still have this wonderful tool?" I came very close to not replying. I did a couple searches and found his tracks online. He turned out to be a great guy (I always recognize great guys by having interests similar to mine). And paid the asking price. My first thought was scam, though.Bernie
MochetVelo
One trick is to enter guy's email address and/or phone number on Google. This will often turn up scam complaints. The scammers are often in London, for some reason. I wish the UK police would take the time to arrest them. It wouldn't be very difficult, as they must go to Western Union to get their money.Phil
Earl B.
Something I read a long time ago, if you ask for pictures, be sure to ask for something specific in the picture.. like something red on the left side, or a baseball cap, or something that they wouldn't be able to go out, find an online picture of the item for sale, and it would have the extra item you requested in the picture. I think the scmmers outnumber us..B
startergenrebuilder
I too have had the same type experience with someone from the UK. They would not take Paypal and once I asked for a picture, I never heard from them again. I actually quit putting my email and phone number on the Wanted ads after that and haven't had it happen since. I always have my website listed so members can go there and get all my contact info or email/message me through the forum.Another idea I heard on the photo thing is to have them include a newspaper with a very recent date on it.JasonAdvanced Electrical Rebuilderswww.aerrebuild.com
