keiser31
About 30 minutes ago a buddy of mine told me about a 1908 White engine that his buddy just took to the scrapper Monday. If anyone is interested in it, I may be able to research it and see what it actually is. I have to get over there and check it out. It may be there for a week or so, but I will do my best to go see it and get photos. I cannot even believe the guy didn't call me!!!!!!!!!! Guest billybird
Jay Leno would probably buy that if he knew about it. I wouldn't have any idea how to contact him though.

keiser31
Another case of a guy with 7 semi trailers full of ancient parts who did not know who to call to liquidate the stuff. I hope I'm not too late on the other stuff. I asked my buddy why he didn't call me. He said "Because you're a MoPar guy". I just looked at him and said "Parts is parts. Especially if they are going for pennies on the dollar". He had no idea that ALL cars intrigue me when they are old. He got some Model T sheet metal for himself, but I guess 7 trailer fulls is a bit intimidating. I will try to find out more tomorrow.

1937hd45
Makes you wonder if it was a White engine, how would someone know that and at the same time be dumb enough to scrap it? :confused:About 30 minutes ago a buddy of mine told me about a 1908 White engine that his buddy just took to the scrapper Monday. franklinman
Here's the bigger question that nobody's asking: If there was a 1908 White engine in this pile, what else is STILL there (before anything else heads to the scrapper)?
R Walling
Scrap doesn't stay at the scrap yard long. I have a scrap yard at the end of my street and the scrap will many times go out of the yard within an hour of being unloaded by the seller. Guest c.johnson
Found the front axle for an Essex at a local scrap yard. They wouldn't let me buy it - it was against company policy to sell anything to private collectors. Told a few of the workers (jose?) that I saw the hubcaps get $50.00 on ebay. A friend said it had mysteriously disappeared by the next day.
AHa
A 1908 white engine is worth about $4,oooSomebody better go get that engine.
Lebowski
Ask the guy to post the parts on this site before he scraps them. I don't know what the engine is worth as scrap but I'm pretty sure it's nowhere near $4K....
Dandy Dave
Looks like the price for number one is around $375 per gross ton which is 2,200 LBS in the scrap metal business. I'll venture to guess that the engine does not weigh more than 400 to 500 LBS. If the junky even paid him top dollar which is doubtfull, he would be lucky to get around $80 to $90 dollars for the engine. Sad. Dandy Dave!
