About 30 minutes ago a buddy of mine told me about a 1908 White engine that his buddy just took to the scrapper Monday. If anyone is interested in it, I may be able to research it and see what it actually is. I have to get over there and check it out. It may be there for a week or so, but I will do my best to go see it and get photos. I cannot even believe the guy didn't call me!!!!!!!!!!

Another case of a guy with 7 semi trailers full of ancient parts who did not know who to call to liquidate the stuff. I hope I'm not too late on the other stuff. I asked my buddy why he didn't call me. He said "Because you're a MoPar guy". I just looked at him and said "Parts is parts. Especially if they are going for pennies on the dollar". He had no idea that ALL cars intrigue me when they are old. He got some Model T sheet metal for himself, but I guess 7 trailer fulls is a bit intimidating. I will try to find out more tomorrow.

Makes you wonder if it was a White engine, how would someone know that and at the same time be dumb enough to scrap it?

Found the front axle for an Essex at a local scrap yard. They wouldn't let me buy it - it was against company policy to sell anything to private collectors.

Told a few of the workers (jose?) that I saw the hubcaps get $50.00 on ebay. A friend said it had mysteriously disappeared by the next day.

Looks like the price for number one is around $375 per gross ton which is 2,200 LBS in the scrap metal business. I'll venture to guess that the engine does not weigh more than 400 to 500 LBS. If the junky even paid him top dollar which is doubtfull, he would be lucky to get around $80 to $90 dollars for the engine. Sad. Dandy Dave!

Ask the guy to post the parts on this site before he scraps them. I don't know what the engine is worth as scrap but I'm pretty sure it's nowhere near $4K....

I am trying to arrange a photo shoot of the stuff before it all goes away so we get a chance at the stuff.

Going to check it all out in about 2 hours. I guess the guy supposedly took a BUNCH of engines to the scrapper. One engine was described as a "new or rebuilt Model A engine strapped to a pallet". I am really on the edge of my seat on this one.

D'OH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too late. The engines all went out Monday right after they came into the yard and before I heard about them. So sorry for the rise, folks. That stuff was all from the warehouse he wanted to clean out. Now....about those trailers full of parts....stay tuned.
