Why you should always return calls

Had a random phone message from a fellow wanting to have some "restoration" done on a '74 VW Beetle. Not really our thing but I always at least try to explain the "cost to benefit ratio" of doing major rust repair on such a vehicle so I went to take a look, not expecting to see anything interesting. Typical rusted out Beetle sitting in a garage, but wait....what to my wandering eyes should appear in the corner of the dimly lit garage? A 1942 Ford Woodie in excellent unrestored condition. In the other corner? A 1951 Jag XK120 Alloy Roadster, also unrestored. Neither for sale but it sure feels good just knowing they are still out there. One never knows.

That is like I was always wondering why a guy in our neighborhood has a 70's corvette under a cover parked in front of his garages door....car never moves...the other day the door to the garage was up and a nicely restored 30's pickup could be seen....I guess he had his priorities straight after all

I return all calls. I have had a couple instances where the call that seemed to be a mere courtesy was a gold nugget in the end. It's just easier to be respectful and it will come back to you. I also treat the people I deal with with honesty and integrity. On 2 occasions I have paid more than they were asking for the car. (one was 3x and another was twice asking prices)
