Guest gcamp
Hello, I am the new owner of a Buick straight eight engine. The engine number is 70946394. Can anyone tell me the year, series, etc., and maybe what vehicle it could have been in? This is my first experience with anything Buick. Thanks, Gene
Bleach
The 70 possibly means it came from a Roadmaster 70 series. Were there any other numbers before the 70? Some GM's started with a two digit number followed by the two digit series number and then the engine serial number.
Guest gcamp
Bleach, There are no other numbers or dashes. I got the number 70946394 from a boss just below and forward of the distributor. There is a 1343404 very low and about center under the carburetor. Maybe I got the wrong one. The man I got it from got it at a high school auto shop and no one could remember what it came out of. It also still has the transmission attached. Thanks, Gene Edited September 14, 2011 by gcamp (see edit history)

38Buick 80C
gcamp,I sent to a PM with Dave Corbin's email. he can decode it for sure. I did check the BCA judging manual available under "documents" on the BCA home page (Buick Club of America - BCA - Welcome). Page 23 has Buick serial number info, but I was confused by the presentation so i suggest emailing Dave.

Dandy Dave
Welcome Aboard Matey. Looks like you have a Fordson Dexta. I have a Fordson Power Major in my collection. I'm also a collector of tired tractors, engines, and construction machinery. Dandy Dave!
