harry yarnell
What's the difference between a '88 and a '90 Reatta A/C compressor?I'm looking for one for the '90, and one outfit says they have one for an '88, but won't fit the '90.I don't think there's a differece... but what do I know... Guest Mc_Reatta
The pins where the connector for the clutch wires plug in. One has round pins the other flat.In a pinch they can be converted with an adapter. Otherwise the compressor should fit and work fine.Probably better off looking for a proper 90 though unless the 88 is just too good a deal to pass up. Guest Richard D
You might try techchoiceparts.com Tell them you read about them on the forum for a discount. They are listed on the resources sticky.
padgett
For the moment I would suggest avoiding the 88 compressor, there seem to be some defective ones in the aftermarket pipeline. The 90 version does not seem to have this problem.
handmedownreatta
to me this brings back the question.when replacing the compresser shouldn't we be changing to something designed for 134a?
Guest Richard D
The one I received from Techchoice was designed for both R-12 and R-134a, or so the catalog said. I flushed the system and used Estercool oil so if I want to change to 134a I won't have to worry about lubricant.
padgett
Compressor does not care what it is pumping so long as it is lubed, more a matter of the lubricant being compatible with the refrigerant. As long as getting under 40F from the outlet when it is 90+ out, I am happy.Meanwhile the "100 days of summer" are nearing the end, weather seems cooler/dryer already.
