Anybody could have done anything.

Have heard of custom body Fords and Dodges also Nashes.

I do know of some custom bodied Buicks and Cadillacs built in the GM experimental shops for GM executives, big shareholders and favored customers but not Chevrolet.

Woody station wagon bodies were farmed out to outside suppliers like Cantrell.

Do you have a specific car in mind?

Correct answer, all of them. While there were a lot of custom bodies made, those body companies still needed work to keep them going. If you brought a chassis to them, of any marque, they'd put a body on it for the right money.

They supplied a lot of "factory" bodies to manufacturers, to the manufacturers design, and delivered "in the white" as they called it, in primer ready for final sanding and paint.

For example, LeBaron made many open bodies for Pierce, to factory design.
