Guest Vetteman61
I recently bought a 68 Ford LTD 2 door hardtop with hideaway headlights. They were supposed to be working but don't. I've traced all the hoses and they all seem to be hooked up. Does anyone have an article or explanation that would help in troubleshooting these hideaway headlights? Thanks, brandon
LINC400
If they work the same as the 1970's Lincolns, they are vacuum operated. There is a vacuum motor for them as well as hoses that can crack and split and springs that break. I have never had any problems with mine. But you might want to check the Lincoln & Continental Club forum if you can't find any info for Fords. I'm sure it has been extensively discussed there before. Guest palosfv3
Pay close attention to the vacuum actuator and reservoir nipples that are pressed into the vacuum housings. They have a tendency to leak around the based of the nipple and the tank face.
