odyssey
Does anybody have any knowledge or experience with makes that used a multi disc dry clutch with NO friction linings? Iron on Iron, NOT running in oil? It appears as though Jackson did as such in 1909 - maybe Stutz for one year? Anybody heard of or seen such a clutch?Tom Rasmussen
Layden B
1912 and 1913 Stutz cars and race cars used a Hele-Shaw brand steel to steel multi-disc clutch. Their claim to fame was that the discs were formed so the mating surfaces were effectively cone shaped, they were fully enclosed and ran in oil.
