Hello all, well I got my 27' Hup started and runs like a top (series A 6 cylinder) with a vacuum tank too etc. etc. I've been having problems with the carb leaking, whats weird is it will run all day and not leak, but when I shut the car off and close the vacuum tank valve gas will run out the carb . I have checked the float level and it's right at the screw hole, before and after I shut it off, checked both times.....any ideas, things to check. I've had the carb apart, tanked and blown out and everything seems fine.

It sounds like your vacuum tank gas shutoff valve is leaking by. A thing to consider is that when you Hupp was new, there was no rust and particales flaking off the inside of the gas tank and ending up in the vacuum tank. I installed a filter in the gas line before the vacuum tank in my wife's 28 Hupp A sedan. The 28 also has a Stromgberg T- 2 carburetor. If you happen to find a Stromberg T-1 or T-2 they seam to be more bullet proof than the OE-1. I would have thought that your 27 would have a T-1 or T-2 carb from the factory.

The gas tank has been tanked and coated, and I rebuilt the vacuum tank and installed a new ball valve. I have since been in contact with Stan Howe over at Stromberg RF Photos he's gonna go through the carb for me a get it right.
