michaelod
Hello all,My 1930 Buick model 68 (master series) has about 6" of free play at the steering wheel. I believe it is localized in the steering box. Is there any method of adjusting the steering box for roller shaft and worm shaft end play on these cars? Can the backlash between worm and roller be removed? Seems like there ought to be some way to adjust the steering box although I am not familiar with the process. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks,
v12lincoln
If it is like the 32 steering box the adjustment is on the frame bracket that bolts to the steering box. you will have to loosen all the bolts on the box and the adjustment bolt is the one closest to the firewall, it is cammed so turning it will give you the adjustment needed. michaelod
Thanks for the tip however I found a procedure in the specifications manual that I had previously overlooked. I will go ahead and work on this in the garage today. Seems like a good day to stay inside due to hurricane Irene that is currently rolling through the area here in North Carolina. Very windy at this time!
