pyntre
Does anyone know if Buick ran a gasket between the heat riser and the exhaust manifold on a the 65 401 nailhead ? Are there any modern gasket materials that could be used to seal that joint ?
mhnova65
The service manual states on page 3-11 that "no gaskets are used in the entire exhaust system"...........however, I recently removed my exhaust system and there was a gasket between the choke stove and exhaust manifold. Albeit, badly deteriorated, it was of the compressed asbestos/ steel type gasket that are usually found in exhaust systems.
gmdbhornet
There is a gasket which goes between the heat riser and the exhaust manifold. I contacted Olson's Gaskets Inc. (360)871-1207 and gave them the measurements and they made me one. It cost $8.50 and it fit perfect. They will make any gasket you need if you can't find them.
