Guest De Soto Frank Posted August 18, 2011 Share Posted August 18, 2011 (edited) Well, Google Images provided some pics that might be helpful...The car on the left (color photo) is like the one I remember seeing at Gene Zimmerman's - it had the squared, low-top radiator, and the more conventional touring-car body.The car in the black & white advertising illustration is what I presume would be considered an "early" K, with the "Stepped" high-tank radiator, and the very ornate, European-styled touring body. Any information about the car's provenance before Richard Paine acquired it would be appreciated. The old registration found in the car was to Dorothy A. Hebden, So. Attleboro, Mass, May 23, 1957. The 1912 T I now own was the very first car Elmer Bemis restored just in time for the 1950 Glidden. He has graciously brought it out to events and I was fortunate enough to get a ride in it during the 2010 Hershey meet. It was Mrs. Snook's car (been having wonderful correspondence with her son Gordon about the car). Amazing coincidence that it should come up in today's postings... I just found out a few minutes ago, thanks to research by Vickie Salvatore of the Lenox Historical Society, that the car originally belonged to Evelyn Kimball Salisbury, hence the E.K.S. monogram on the doors and the E. K. Kimball & Co. coach-builder's name plate on the door sill. At Harrah's sale in about 1985 the car was purchased by Clyde Ensor. I purchased the car from Clyde Ensor's grandson who inherited it from Clyde. automuseum Posted February 7, 2012 Share Posted February 7, 2012 From what I can determine, the Model K at the Seal Cove Auto Museum was owned by Bemis, then went to Hebden, then went to Dr. Sam Scher, then went to Richard Paine and the Seal Cove in 1967. Where Bemis got it is anyone's guess. Ownership found in the car shows Mrs. Hebden owning it in May of 57. "S" monogram on the side of the front seat gives it the Dr. Scher provenance. 1937hd45 Posted February 10, 2012 Share Posted February 10, 2012 I was told the Elmer Bemis Model K Ford had a 1937 Ford rear axle inside the original axle housing. Don't know the reason for this, but it was an interesting tid bit. The 1912 T Touring car I have was the very first Antique Elmer restored just in time for the 1950 Glidden.
