Here is a link that can follow my restoration of " DA FREAK" a rare 1967 Ambassador four on the floor station wagon !!!! I thank Mark Fletcher for saving this car and starting the restoration. I'm now the owner and look foward to completing the restoration ,or most of it as I have to stay in my budget. I have much to learn as this is a new process for me. Another big thank you too Dan Curtis for letting me use his shop as a place to do my work.

My girlfriend Tracy has built a page and link to show the fun and work we will have along the way,

What a neat car and you definitely need to keep Tracy.

Yep she's a keeper and will be much fun watching her drive a four on the floor station wagon !!!!!!! We plan on camping in it as well as towing my motorcycle on the trips to the beach .

This book from 1994 says it all ! My wagon is the proof that one was really built. This is why I call the car "DA FREAK" , pretty cool stuff,

Hi Matt,

Glad to hear you're back on your feet.

The way that paragraph is written, it almost sounds "tongue in cheak." I'd be willing to bet he knew of your exact car, and its existence. Didn't he pretty much describe it to a "T"?

He sure did but I don't know if he knew of this car or not, maybe. Book was wrote in 1994 and car was saved from the PA cornfield in 2001.

Auto artist Danny Whitfield created this paint of my old Hurst SC/Rambler and my new Ambassador 4spd wagon project,

Congratulations on finding a really neat car...i have been looking for so long trying to find a 4 spd ambo that i basically gave up and have sold off many of the parts i've collected over the years. I did find one recently but it's in Washington state so it'll cost around $3000 just to go out and look at it and have it brought home, plus the owner doesn't have a title. There was also a 67 ambo flr shift auto wagon for sale several years ago in the carolinas.......

I have always liked the '67-'68 Ambassadors. Very nice cars. Anxious to see more progress on yours. The only Ambassador 4 speed I ever saw was the '65 DPL 2 door hardtop that belonged to the parents of a friend of my brother. I think it had a 290 in it.

in 1970 in Navy boot camp in San Diego our company commander drove in in a brand new 1970 Chevy Kingswood Estate wagon asked me to drive it to the wash area on the side of the barracks and it had a 4 speed and a curved shifter to clear the bench seat

Was looking for info on the Ambassador 4-speed and stumbled upon this.

The last year for a 4-speed Chevy was 1969. I'm betting that's what you saw.
