1958 Buick Super

Recommended Posts

I found and bought the best 4 door Super I could get in order to have my favorite BIG Buick to use with my old Airstream. It is done now and I find I really need a truck/Suburban type.

Buick has essentially no rust.....only a bit along the inside trunk lid. I tried to keep the original paint...including a few beauty marks. All the chrome redone. All new interior.....including dash pad. Motor completely gone thru, The Flight Pitch rebuilt by the best. perfect glass. New tires. all new air conditioning, works great even here in Texas. Transmission cooler. Alternator. Electric wipers by Newport. Dual electric , thermostat controlled radiator fans. Optima blue. Detailed engine compartment. Radio modified for Ipod and completely updated. High dollar speakers front and rear...in original positions. All new chrome garnish rails inside. All new suspension front and rear. New rubber seals all around. All new brakes, including lines. I am putting on front discs this week as well. A really nice tow mount and brake controller system installed.

It is ready. I want just what I have in it.

1958 BUICK SUPER

I AM SECOND OWNER. ACTUALLY THE THIRD…..THE PERSON I BOUGHT IT FROM, WHO HAD IT ONLY A FEW WEEKS IN ORDER TO SELL IT, RECEIVED IT FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER IN ARKANSAS/ MISSOURI, USA. THE VEHICLE NEVER WAS KEPT OUTSIDE UNCOVERED. THEREFOR, NO PAINT DETERIORATION OR RUST FROM WINTER ROADS.

MOTOR WAS REMOVED, COMPLETELY TAKEN APART, CLEANED, INSPECTED AND REBUILT. ALL ACCESSORIES WERE REPLACED WITH NEW OR REBUILT.

TRANSMISSION WAS SENT TO CALIFORNIA WHERE THE BEST, ANY ONLY, EXPERT WITH THE THREE TURBINE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY REBUILT THIS LOW MILAGE UNIT.

COMPLETELY NEW, INCLUDING MANIFOLDS, EXHUAST SYSTEM WITH FLOWMASTER MUFFLERS. THE BEST.

THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS DETAILED AND PAINTED FLAT ENGINE BLACK .

RADIATOR REBUILT. STAINLESS OVERFLOW BOTTLE INSTALLED.

ALL NEW AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM INSTALLED. I USED THE UNDERDASH EVAPORATOR UNIT BECAUSE I LIKE THE VINTAGE LOOK AND BETTER COOLING. DUAL ELECTRIC FANS INSTALLED IN FRONT OF THE RADIATOR/CONDENSER.

OPTIMA BLUE BATTERY WITH STAINLESS MOUNTING TRAY.

ELECTRIC WINDSHIELD WIPER SYSTEM.

THE ENGINE WAS MODIFIED BY REPLACING THE INTERNAL OIL/VACUME PUMP WITH A LATER BUICK MODEL OIL PUMP (A MUCH SUPERIOR PUMP) AND THE VACUME NOW PROVIDED FROM THE INTAKE MANIFOLD.

THE ENTIRE SUPENSION FRONT END SYSTEM AND RUBBER ITEMS WAS REBUILT, REPLACED, WITH NEW ITEMS AND THE FRONT END ALIGNED BY A PROFESSIONAL SHOP. A NEW REAR END PANHARD BAR AND ALL RUBBER MOUNTS IN THE REAR WERE INSTALLED.

GAS TANK REMOVED, CLEANED, SEALED AND REPLACED WITH A NEW SENDING UNIT INSTALLED.

PAGE 2

ALL NEW SHOCK ABSORBERS INSTALLED. REAR SHOCKS ARE AIR SHOCKS ADJUSTABLE WITH AIR VALVE IN TRUNK.

ALL NEW TUBLESS RADIAL TIRES.

THE BOTTOM OF THE FLOORPAN WAS CLEANED AND INSPECTED , NOT PAINTED OR COATED.

ALL NEW BRAKE SYSTEM INCLUDING LINES, CYLINDERS AND REBUILT POWER BRAKE BOOSTER. I AM CHANGING THIS NOW….BY PUTTING DISC BRAKES AND RELATED ITEMS ON THE FRONT. A SUPERIOR SYSTEM. ALL ORIGINAL ITEMS WILL BE INCLUDED WITH THE CAR. THIS ALSO APPLIES TO ANY OTHER PARTS I HAVE.

A NEW TOWING SYSTEM, VERY NICE, AND ELECTRIC BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM INSTALLED.

ENTIRE DASH INSTRUMENTS AND SPEEDOMETED REPLACE WITH NEW. ORIGINAL MILAGE WAS 52000 MILES. I HAD ODOMETER RESET TO ZERO.

ALL INSTRUMENTS OPERATE.

ORIGINAL RADIO USED AND REBUILT BY THE BEST SHOP. MODERNIZED WITH am/fm AND MP3 /IPOD CONNECTION IN GLOVE COMPARTMENT. SPEAKERS ARE IN THE ORIGINAL POSITIONS FRONT AND REAR…GOOD ONES…NOT JUNK.

NEW HEADLINER,

NEW CARPETING WITH COCO MATS FRONT AND REAR.

ENTIRE INTERIOR NEW WITH ORIGINAL MATERIALS. THE DASH PAD AND COVER IS NEW, HOWEVER, THE ORIGINAL LOOKING STAMPED LINES WERE REDONE AND OMITTED. IT LOOKS BETTER NOW. WORK DONE BY FERRARI/ PORSCHE RESTORATION COMPANY HERE IN MY TOWN….BOB SMITH COACHWORKS.

ALL INTERIOR GARNISH RAILS AROUND WINDOWS CHROME PLATED.

ALL EXTERIOR BUMPERS NEW CHROME PLATING.

I DID NOT REPAIR ANY SMALL DINGS IN THE STAINLESS…AROUND THE HEADLIGHT RIMS. MINOR AND EASILY REPAIRABLE IF YOU WANT. AS WITH THE PAINT, I WANTED THE ORIGINAL PATINA TO SHOW THRU ANY WORK. IT IS A LOOK I WANT. I DO HAVE REPLACEMEN PIECES OF SEVERAL ITEMS….NICE TO HAVE…

PAGE 3

MOST OF THE RUBBER SEALS ON THE CAR ARE NEW. FROM STEELE RUBBER PRODUCTS.

ALL LOCKS ARE FUNCTIONAL AND EXTRA KEYS HAVE BEEN MADE.

THE ONLY ‘BAD’ THING ….WHICH IS REALLY MINOR TO REPAIR…IS THE INSIDE, NOT VISABLE, OF THE TRUNK LID. THERE IS A RUST AREA ALONG THE LIP WHERE WATER ACCUMULATED AT THE RUBBER SEAL LINE. I AM TREATING IT WITH RUST ENCAPSULATOR AND WILL REPAINT…THEN A NEW SEAL INSTALLED.

YOU WILL ALSO SEE SOME PIN POINT FLECKS OF SURFACE RUST COLORING AT POINTS IN THE DOOR AREAS. THESE WAX OFF AND I REMOVE THEM AS I CLEAN THE CAR WITH A WAX RAG.

IF THE CAR NEEDED ANYTHING I FIXED IT. THIS WAS MADE FOR ME. I WANTED THE MASSIVE CHROME LOOK AND RELIABILITY. THE PLAN WAS FOR A ROUTE 66 TOUR WITH MY AIRSTREAM.

ANY QUESTIONS? I WILL HAVE FRESH PHOTOS THIS WEEK SO YOU CAN BE ASSURRED OF CURRENT CONDITION.

Not embarrassed. Just keeps the creeps away and only those who are genuinely interested will call. I'd like 45.000 and will take some trades.

Nice looking car and trailer combination, Airstreams are so cool......

With all due respect, I think the money you are talking would buy a professionally restored 2-door.

Unfortunately it's easy to get "in the bucket" on old cars, one reason one should either buy the best restored car to start with, or only restore a car that you really love (which sounds like was your original intent).

Good luck with sale............
