Buicks in the Great Race

Recommended Posts

Went to Galax, VA on 6-12-11 and watched the Great Race participants stop for lunch. Of the 60+ entries, there was only two Buicks. One was the 1931 speedster driven by Pat and Pat Brothers. The other was a 1955 Century wagon driven by Bob Coker. See pics below.<O:p</O:p

I went to the Great Race 2011 Blog to see what the route would be this year. On the rh side, there are some car ads, including a '52 Series 50 "Woodie". I clicked on it and found the complete page on it. A nice car, but with some things I didn't really like, especially for the price. Plus, the dealer with it is in Houston, if that matters.

Enjoy!

I've wanted to do this ever since I heard about it.

Old Tank and 5563 in a 55 cross country? Heck yeah!

Thanks sharing Martel.

Bob's fitty five looks like it's sitting a little low in the rear. Must be runnin a load of lightnin up north. I know he must be having a good time. Our prayers are with Bob on this trip, may it be safe and he not get too lost.

It was supposed to start in San Antonio and I was going to tag along for a couple of days with the Wandering Troubadours of Finland again. It has been postponed for a couple of months, but that is hot as blazes here in August.  They were still trying to put it on foolishly on time. Get a traveling parade of septuagenarians going through small towns during a pandemic? It’s hard enough to finish that race without dying of non- car related issues.
