Guest tomw51
My steering drag link on my 46 Continental has some up and down movement. Can the drag link be repaired ? Im in Southern California area. I did see on Boos-Herrel they have a drag link for $299.00. I have not contact them yet to see if its totally new or not. I just thought a local shop should be able to repair, but then its the specs that I worry about.
peecher
You might check around the local shops as there used to be a method of rebushing worn ball joints with polyurethane. This could be done while the link is on the car and might work for you.
Guest notnow
Tom; Which end of the drag link is bad..? If I recall correctly the Left Side At the pitman arm can be Replaced. That Part is a common Part . I believe I got one from Mac's ..
Guest tomw51
Its the right side, which is the whole drag link itself.
Guest notnow
Tom; You could cut the drag link on the right side ,thread it and use an adjuster sleeve and a threaded Tie Rod End ..That is If you don't care about it being car show correct ..The Left side is the same as the Left Tie Rod End,I Think .. Guest notnow
Mac's Antique Auto Parts list the Drag Link complete with both ends and the Coupling Sleeve with both Clamps for $93.95 ..Fits 41 thru 48 ..Part # 21A-3306..
peecher
The drag link for '42 to '48 Lincolns carries a different p/n ( 26H-3306) so it must be a little different from the regular Ford/Merc? Might be the same length but the contour at the outer end may be different for radius rod clearance, but may still work? Guest notnow
Dee;Thanks for your Reply above .. As near as I can tell the part #s code is as follows : 06H=1940 Cont.. 16H=1941 Cont..26H=1942 Cont .. #3306 is the Part # ..The Lincoln Part # would be 26H-3306 .. #21A-Designates Ford,so then the Ford Part # would be 21A-3306..... I have been told by a good Source that the 21A-3306 will Fit the Continental ..Another Party on this subject also said it would fit also..(His Reply has since been Deleted for some reason)I do know the Left Side Replaceable end Will Fit as I Bought one And Installed it and it was exactly the same.. Maybe Some Ford Specialist can give a Better Explanation on Antique Ford Part Numbers..
