John_Maine Posted March 17, 2011 Share Posted March 17, 2011 It has always been my understanding - since I was 13 in 1963 - that the '63 1/2 Galaxie had the new "fastback" C pillar compared with the previous "Thunderbird" C pillar - which I believe was continued along with the fastback until the end of the model run. I doubt that you could tell by the VIN.The 1963 1/2 Fords were new rooflines available in 3 models, the first hardtop Falcons and Fairlanes as well as the fastback hardtop Galaxie.
