Guest stude8
A friend wants to restore a 1922 Pennsylvania state automobile license plate and needs the correct color scheme used for that year plates. We were told it is "Brown" with "Cream" numerals. Does anyone have a photo of an original plate or paint color code for the correct shade of brown? Or is there a online directory for license plate restoration?Stude8
Shop Rat
Here is a link for one I just found.1922 PENNSYLVANIA license plate (GIBBY VERY GO (03/15/2009)...And a matched pair on another site. They look cream with black letters to me.http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/3631933A few more. The ones on the right look more like cream with dark brown letters/numbers. Hard to tell.http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/3632110 Edited February 3, 2011 by Shop Rat (see edit history)
Guest stude8
Shop Rat thanks for the two links with images. I also found a few on Google but in all cases they were poor originals and poor graphics so hard to make a judgement from.It does look like they were a light background with dark letters however some look to be black lettering on white and others a Chocolate Brown? on Cream, I guess who would question the color scheme? How often do you see 1922 cars with Pennsylvania history anyway? The car they will go on is a Wisconsin resident for now.Stude8
A. Ballard 35R
Previous comments correvt re 1922 PA plates. Practically impossible to find any in decent shape. The ones shown in links look exceptional and do a better job of showing the colors than many you would find in the hands of collectors.
