Dear Jeff:

I'm at work now. I can decode it all, but it will not be for several hours. There are also a couple of other numbers that are useful which you can post for all of us.

The first is called the "frame number" and it's on a small tag on the doorpost. The first digit will tell us the plant where the car was built and the second digit will be a 7.

The second number is called the "engine number" and it will be between 2105 and 273,000 not including the 5 which will be at the end of the number.

Where in Ohio? I'm from Springfield, but live in Texas now.

Regards, Dave Corbin

Hi all,

Anyone decode my 1953 Buick?

1953 MOD. 53-52

53 = model year, 52 = Riviera Sedan

STYLE NO. 53-4519

53 = model year, 4519 = Riviera Sedan Model 52

BODY NO. G 5654

G = ?, 5654 = production sequence

TRIM NO. 63

63 = Blue

PAINT NO. 75 BD

75 = ?, BD = ?

Thanks for your help,

Jeff

G would be assembly plant, but I have no reference to other than assembly plants being numbers 1 through 7.

The paint codes are not in my reference material. I'm guessing a special order tu-tone of some nature since neither code comes up as anything in any year either side of 1953.

Maybe someone else can fill in for you.

Jim

You are asking for a decoding of your BODY BY FISHER cowl tag.....NOT the VIN PLATE information.....

1953 MOD. 53-52 = Super Riviera 4-door, 6 passenger sedan

Trim Number 63 = Light blue patterned nylon with dark blue gabardine bolster

Paint Code Number 75 = Majestic White upper / Teal Blue lower

Accessory letter "B" = heater & defroster

Accessory letter "D" = Sonomatic radio and antenna
