Hello all,

My name is Vince and I live in Philadelphia. Recently I hurt myself pretty badly and am temporarily disabled so with nothing bit time on my hands I volunteered to help a good friend of mine who lives in Sweden.

He and his car friends recently acquired a 1956 Buick Roadmaster convertible. Gorgeous car in my opinion and it's actually in pretty good shape. However a tree limb fell onto the hood and smooshed (the correct technical term, I believe) the windshield, windshield frame and all the trim. I've done a fair bit of checking around the web to no avail. Please see the photograph.

He will also need a high quality convertible top and I'm assuming the framework for that as well. I tried to track down a place in Washington state that folks swear by but I think they're out of business. So I decided to go to the experts in such things, you guys and girls. Any ideas? Please don't hesitate to contact me at any time and I will promptly respond.

If I get an email from anyone I'll gladly pass along my phone number in case you need any further information from me in person. Thanks very much all. Have a nice evening.

Vince

Ouch, too bad about the damage, the car does look good otherwise.

I found a windshield at: BOB'S CLASSIC AUTO GLASS

I have never bought there but others on the site have recommended them before. The rubber weatherstrip is probably available at www.steelerubber.com - Automotive rubber parts and weatherstripping for restoration cars, trucks and street rods. .

The fabric top will also be easy to find, but finding top frame parts and trim will be much more difficult, others can chime in on that. Note that there were two different Buick convertible bodies and it appears you must use parts from a 1954-56 Super or Roadmaster, or maybe a 1954-56 Olds 98 or Cadillac. Good luck, Todd C

Terrific information and help so far. Thanks very much. I'll contact the windshield link tomorrow and perhaps they can steer me in a direction for the frame and/or the trim. Eh...I love a good mission. Thanks again.
