The first `55 4 Dr HT - Concept

Recommended Posts

Bob, that dashboard looks so great in white. That is a one car thing though, isn't it? I mean the rest of the model run wasn't that round area on the bottom black in all cars?

Not necessarily.

I have a spare white dash that came with my convertible with a black dash top. The white on the bottom appears to be original.

Trying to think if I ever saw another one than black? What about 54's? Were they all Black there?

John

My 55 CVT is all black, but my other 55's (two model 63 four door hardtops......production examples of Bob's car) have white under red and white under blue. A model 63 parts car is white under green and a model 46R parts car is all green. I guess we'll have to look at the 55's a little closer in July.

Bob, sorry for the crazy question, but what is the little handle near the edge of the door for? It looks like a window handle, but no knob and since it has power windows, it can't be for that. It that the door lock switch? Just curious.

BOB, I think Jim means, do the back doors on your car have the same sort of flipper switch for the door locks? They are unique. And when you say, "The 2 had the push-pull knobs", do you mean the 2-door hardtops?

If you check my other thread I finally posted a few pics of my cut-a-way nailhead I mentioned a few years ago

I corrected the previous post....

Yes, rear doors have the same lock as the front.

I have to say I am very disappointed in my picture taking...I missed many very nice cars, including some of the "Must haves" like Bob's cars. I did get one of me and Lady Landau though.

I guess I was so taken with all the eye candy that I was Buick Drunk. post-62521-143139089511_thumb.gif

In all I learned a lot about how a National is done and will be better prepared for South Bend. post-62521-143139089507_thumb.gif

There`s another somewhat strange series number. 42. I heard but without proof it was a Chevrolet body on Special chassis. I think around 1949.

Anyone familar with the series 42?

Bob

I am a day late and a dollar short on this question but has anyone came up with an answer? I know that early 1951 Buick brochures showed a Special 4-Door Tourback Sedan as model 42 but it, along with a couple other models in the brochure, were never produced.

Thing I find strange about a Buick being on a Chevy chassis is that Chevy did not use the X-braced frame like Buick which was a heavier and more powerful car.

If anyone has an answer, please post and please post the Model 42 they are thinking about, unless the 1951 is it? I may have a copy of that one in a pdf file and could extract to post?

Eric
