Guest broker-bob
It will be hard to find one there was an auction with one good one and some parts on E bay a while ago it started to go high so I droped out,,,,, I also have a PA Plymouth I used one that I found that was close and modified it,,,,, do you know what it is for ???????? if the car is set up right the distributor is retarded when engine is off so if you use the crank to start will not kick back As soon as engine fires the vacumme pulls the distributor to full advance and stays there,,,,,, There are weights in distributor to compensate for increasing RPMs if you use the self starter you really doint need it just tighted the disbrib so it doesent flop around and time the engine I power timed mine----------------bobnroman@yahoo.com Edited October 14, 2010 by broker-bob (see edit history)
Guest broker-bob
what's wrong with yours ?? the diaphrams rupture when they get old I have an original but ruptured !!!! they can be rebuilt -- if you find a way to open it up around out side and put new diaphram BR
Guest martylum
Hi-I just bought an NOS vac. advance for a 49 Chrysler 6. Wonder if something from that era would fit on your early distributor? Installing a new unit really made a nice difference in the Chrysler's performance-no more worrying hesitation. Yes, the diaphragm in the original unit was shot.I have a 30 Desoto 6 and will take a look to see how it's vac. advance unit compares to 49 Chrysler. Let you know if it looks promising but I need your e-mail address.Marty lummarty@oldercar.com
