Guest Straight eight
Have any of you experienced spots under the paint known as lamination? There seems to be some in the pearl white, and some in the metalic pearl dark blue.Seems strange that such an expensive car can have paint problems. tim63riv
Crappy paint was industry wide back in the 90's. Paint companies were dealing with EPA regulations and changing formulations every few years and the paint just didn't hold up. If you do have to repaint a car today, the paint is much better if that is any consolation at all!Tim
Guest David G
Yes, I have large flakes of bright white diamond paint peeling off the rear of my trunk lid, and along the quarter panel top seams. Hmm, along a roof line also. Just the paint though, the primer is still intact.
tim63riv
Dave,The primer seems to hold up OK, just check out Neons from that era, paint is peeling like crazy but the primer is hanging on to the metal. The body guys refer to it as "delamination", when either the clear peels from the base coat or the base coat peels from the primer. Either way, the car looks bad!Tim
