Guest jwin
My 89' has been sitting since January when it started having a transmission problem. I have been working on correcting the transmission problem, and went to take it for a test drive today, and found that I have no power steering. It was not like this when I drove it in Jan. So whatever happened seems to have happened while it was sitting in the driveway. I don't seem to have any visible fluid leaks. Any ideas?

padgett
I assume the fluid level is right, the pulley is turning, and they system is not groaning.. First thought is that the spool in the rack is jammed. I'd try yanking the wheel right and left and see if something pops. Do not do while driving. You get power asist when the spool moves to block the recirc path and opens either the left or right pressure path depending. If the spool does not move, you get no assist.
