Rick Hoover
Hal,
It's orange. Then came blue. Black came later in the early 80's.
Rick
Guest snkchevcol
I checked the 1971 brochure for the el camino to see if showed a picture of the engine, but it didn't. I then checked the brochure on the pickups and it shows them being orange in the trucks so I would think it is the same on the el camino, but I could be mistaken. I always assumed the engines were orange until the later years (late 70's early 80's).
Rock

Guest Hal Davis (MODEL A HAL)
A friend of mine has a '71 El Camino with a 350 and would like to know what color the engine was suppose to be. He and I were both thinking orange, but the guy who built the engine says it's supposed to be black.
