Guest madmacs
my name is Paul, I live in Australia and I race replica indy cars. I have 1935 Ford, flathead powered and all original drive train. In our standard gearboxes we run the Lincoln Zepher gears out of LIncoln Zepher 1939 gear boxes. We have purchased over the years complete new gear sets from Speedway Motors and just recently Van Pelt with no success in longevity of the gears. We found the gears to be of inferior material or just not hard enough to withstand racing. This is not their fault but they are not able to suggest other suppliers of the gears. Are you aware of the problem with these new gears and do you have any suggestions as to where to purchase better quality gears or original second hand gears. oldwhizzer
I think all the Zephyr Transmissions 1939-1948 use the same gear sets. ow
1941
I DON'T THINK THAT THE GEARSETS WERE THE SAME FROM 39-48.I know for a fact that the gears that were originally in my '41are a different tooth-count in the post-war models. This has been covered in earlier posts .......but I CANT find it!!Mike Lynch
Guest frenchy dehoux
The 39 Zephyr gears as far as I have being told they are the same as 39 ford and are more affordable. From 1940 on they were different. Frenchy
Ken/Alabama
The change was in the 1940 Lincolns, up till then the gears were same as Ford.
