Is anybody out there planning to attend this meet?

Unfortunately, I'm working that week and will be unable to attend.

If any of you will be able to attend, PLEASE bring your camera and share some pictures with us!

Suggestion: If possible, copy your photos to a CD (like Jeff Booth and Mike Lynch did), send it to me (PM for my mailing address or look in the LZOC membership roster) and I will construct a Webshots Screen Saver Photo album of the photos, with appropriate credit of course.

Check out my Webshots albums of the Lincoln Gilmore Meet, Kalamazoo, MI. June, 2006 and the Latham, NY meet in 2009:

Judging from the lack of responses, it would appear that nobody is planning to attend this meet!

To perhaps pique some interest, I am attaching the meet schedule to this post. ALL the Lincoln clubs have been invited: Lincoln Continental Owners Club, Lincoln Owners Club, and Road Race Lincoln Register. It sounds like this will be a memorable occasion with an abundance of interesting activities - enough to keep everybody busy!

Note that the judging will be held on THURSDAY morning, September 16.

Well Jeff, you got some great photos at Kalamazoo in 2006. Thanks for sharing them. I'm sure you have made some improvements to your '40 Zephyr in the last 4 years. Maybe it's time for another road trip. You could even write your own coverage of the meet, send it to Dave Cole with your photos and I'll bet he would put it in TWOTZ!

By the way, your Kalamazoo photo album is rated in the Webshots "top cars albums" and has been viewed 5.862 times and downloaded 232 times.

I would love to go see the beautiful southwest, it would be a major trip in a new car. I have run

my car 3-400 miles in a day, no problem so far but..that would be a nice vacation cruise in a

12 cyl convertible..I know my machine could make it...but I think 1or 2 states away is my limit..I

still am a little squeamish, I would drive my 64 rivi or 67 pontiac, I just dont know if these Hv-12 cars were designed to drive 1000 miles a day...??

My car runs properly temps/ presures, slight whine at 50 from pinion..I do have rough wheel bearing surfaces on rear axle...need to be sleeved..but they are quiet, bearings greased..my 2 speed works flawlessly, never been updated..I run 140 full synthetic lube..seems to like it..

Rolf B. told me he drove a 40 across the USA. as fast as he could without issue..50 years ago prob..no od car..

I like to think of zephyr as transportation...and thats why my car is a little beat up, but it spent so long as a project..non operating novelty..that I worry about that little part that I missed D'oh..

I fully agree, Jeff. A couple of weeks ago the drivers door glass in our 1997 Town Car went down and wouldn't come back up. Even with the A/C on full, it was still a VERY unpleasant 7 mile trip to work in the 100+ degree Texas heat! I'm TOO OLD for that anymore!

Rewind to 1970. My wife and I & our two boys drove our 1947 Continental from Glendale, California to Mt. Snow, Vermont to attend the Eastern National LCOC meet. I had just installed a complete 1957 Lincoln driveline in the car and it worked great. In over 7,000 miles, our only problem was a broken speedometer cable (we made really good time after that)! In those days, both our parents lived on the east coast and it was a combined trip/visit.

We had NO A/C, NO seat belts, NO cell phone, NO Auto club. Just a few tools in the trunk. When we returned to California, we drove to the Western LCOC meet in Yosemite National Park. Again, no problems. I drove that 47 Lincoln as my daily transportation for 10 years and nearly 100,000 miles, including MANY business trips from LA to Phoenix.

There's NO WAY that I would attempt that trip again in ANY collector car!

You may have already viewed my 1947 Continental Webshots photo album at:

Those REALLY were the"good old days".

Gone Forever!
