There are two different wheel widths on these Skylark type wire wheels. I found out the hard way. I had 3 & 1.
There is a company called Wheel Vintiques that sells reproduction wire wheels. I have seen them. You can hardly tell the difference.
The only difference I saw, was that the spinners on the reproductions are plastic.
If you did get the repros, I would get the original spinners. There are reproduction original metal spinners available from Buick Specialists. 253-852-0584
Vintiques advertises in the Bugle, 559/251-6957
I am curious if anybody has had experience with these reproductions, as my original ones are nothing but trouble. The spokes loosen up all the time. I am continually having to have them tightened and tuned.
I do not know if it is because I am running radials, or that I frive the car a lot.
Yes they were rebuilt 5 years ago by Dayton Wire Wheels.
Cooker tire sells the wheels with the tires on them, mounted, balanced etc. as a set for a package price. I heard something like $3000 for a set of 5 complete.??
Scott Mich
Assistant Director
Chicagoland Chapter
1955-76C
1959 Olds SS-88

i have a set of wheel vintiques on my skylark and so far they have held up well. no loose spokes or chrome problems. i had them made in 8" width due to all the extra space in the wheel well which makes the wheel look too deep in the hole. the new ones also have an extra bead groove in the rim for tubeless tires. i rechromed my ooriginal spinners and got the inserts from buick specialists.

John,
Everything being relative, how long have you had the Vintiques, and approx. how many miles have you put on them?
Are you running radials, or bias plys?
Thanks,
Scott Mich
