Anyone know what kind of fuel mileage to expect from a 1956 Olds Rocket 88 with a 324 and automatic transmission? Also, is a fuel additive like Marvel Mystery Oil recommended for lead-free fuels? Oh, and where the *%& heck is the master cylinder?

TIA, Gordon

Depending on the rear gears...figure 15-18mpg. My dual quad 394 with 5.38s got 5 mpg. Swapped to 3.42s, that should get me to 12mpg (I hope!)

Master cylinder is along the frame rail, under floor near the dimmer switch.

My engine builder said its good to add MMO to each tank (1 pt. or so). Very thin oil, won't hurt anything......

I had 56 Olds 324, 4 barrel, auto, a/c, p/s, p/b, etc. and it got about 16 MPG. Good car, wish I still had it.
