I need one of these. It is a door handle removing tool.

Fits mid 50s thru 59 Mopars for sure and probably other years.

I do not have a part number.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, JACK

These show up on ebay quite often but usually bring $100-$200 each

I have owned and parted 50's and later mopars and have never used such a tool. Many door and window handles I have pulled with tools as simple as a butter knife with the tip bent up . The bigest thing to remeber is to keep the window handle pointing straight down, this position will put the area of the clip that you need slightly push towards the front of the car at the 9 oclock position..

On the door handles the clip release area is on the bottom of the handle..

If you have the factory service manual, there is a blue print of a simple make it yourself tool as is shown on this thread over on the forwardlook.net

Hi

Thanks for the information. The drivers side panels are rotted so I have just torn them off. I can see the clip but just can't seem to get it off. I am trying to save the other side panels for templates so don't really want to tear them off to get at the clips. I will keep at it. Never thought I would get stimeyed by a door handle ?? Again, much appreciated. I will look at the web site you attached.

I found one of these with the help of this forum. The home made tools might work but the correct tool is the correct way to go. I made simular tools shown in the above thread but none worked as well as the correct one.

Some one here saw my request and knew of one at an old tool store or junk store of some kind and picked it up for me. I dont remember the price but it wasnt much.

This board is full of really good guys that want to help. If that guy that sent me this tool is reading (he will know who he is) I thank you again.

I posted this request on all of the Mopar forums here (Dodge Chrysler Desoto Plymouth) and there was some discussion on the tool. If I remember correctly there was talk of a KD tool part number that may help in your search.

I have edited here and did the search for you. These links will provide two part numbers for you. I even found the guy that found the tool for me. Good luck !!

And thanks again 'Money Pit'

Hi Jack

Who would have ever thunk that getting a door handle off a car would bring sooooo much discussion ?? I will give Miller tool a call and see if they have these. Thanks for all the help.

Onward and upward

Hi Jack

Thanks much. I looked at the KD tool and I am not sure that it will work? I have one idea and then I will most likely buy the KD.

Again.

Thanks

Dwaine
