1940 lincoln continental convertible

Good day all, On my 1940 lincoln the old fuel pump was incorrect with a glass bowl. I replaced with the proper pump and vehicle seems to run much better, but I do not see any type of fuel filter for this system. Did they have a filter in line at some point or is there one inside this pump.

the fuel pump has a screen inside, trash collects on "top", the correct one has a

butterfly drain cock an the side, loosen it and purge the sediment..it was impreoved with the glass bowl, trash settles to the bottom, you remove and clean it once in a while...

if you have troubles. add a in line modern filter...
