Need owner of the 1930 Ford dual cowl phaeton by LeBaron

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know the current owner of the Edsel Ford 1930 Ford Model A dual cowl phaeton built one off by LeBaron? I believe it was originally black. I have been told it survives and was shown at Pebble Beach in the last 10-15 years, possibly the year that Ford Motor Co. was highlighted at PB. Thanks? I remember when Pebble Beach had a bunch of Fords displayed a few years ago, but I DO NOT remember one of them being a Model A LeBaron dual cowl phaeton. That is the type of body style I hardly think I'd forget. Are you sure about the description, George? If not, I'd sure love to see it when you find it.

Susan,

I had the pleasure of judging with Bill at Amelia Island this year. Through all the years we've judged at the same concours, I've never had the chance to judge on the same team until this year.

It really is a small world that you have known him since you were a child and I met him when I was about 32 or 33. And then I met you through these forums years later. Oh, just so you know, I keep reminding him that he should leave you that car you love so much. He just kind of laughs softly as I am sure you have heard him do.

I can't confirm that the dual cowl phaeton model A that I saw was a LeBaron or even a 1930 model, but I can say that I saw and photographed a dual cowl Model A phaeton at a hotrod show in Oklahoma City, OK in 1980. It was silver with Black Hartz cloth top. It had the quail radiator cap and was very tastefully original, body-wise, though the drivetrain had obviously been updated as the wider wheels and modern tires betrayed. I have no idea where those pictures are now and sorry to say, this 30 year old sighting is not a very hot lead.
