Ed Indeed. And the jamb and mirror housing paint does not match but could be fixed. I'll bet the seller simply is not internet savvy and didn't click all the right boxes at posting. Such a beautiful car still! I love the brushed cluster. I'd cannibalize that speedo into a boat tail any day. My forebears up until 1897 or about, spelled it Beacham. One was an Episcopal-Methodist Bishop. In the mid-to late 1890s he went to England and when he returned he must have told family members it was spelled Beauchamp, because they all changed the spelling. On one land deed that was transferred they wrote "Beauchamp (alias Beacham) in fact. My Dad's family pronounced it Beacham, but in 1931 when he married my mother she preferred "Bo-shawum" and then it went to "Bo-shawump". She insisted I use that and I did until I retired in 1991 and moved "down the country" to where my Dad was born and where a lot of my relatives were (SE Virginia). They convinced me I should go by "Beacham" and I have ever since. Your '38 Buick is stunning. Glad another "Beacham" or "Beecham" in now in the pre-War Buick family too. I've been a fan of them since I was a little boy. By the way, I also have a 1964 Wildcat....not sure for how long I'll keep that one. But, it didn't have a lot of trunk space for AACA Tours. The best body man and painter in the world painted and did the body work. He's sold the shop of semi retired now. kreed Posted September 12, 2018 Share Posted September 12, 2018 Had the 66 out this weekend at the Des Moines Concourse de'Elagance which has been held for the past 50 years . It's an invitation only show that had 170 cars representing 10 different classes . We were accepted in the "space age collectibles" . Didn't win our class - was beat out by a fabulous 1962 Plymouth Fury convertible which clearly was the best car . Beautiful weather for a change and huge crowds . We were the only Riviera in the show . Lots of questions and compliments . Only two Buicks on display, my ‘63 and Tim’s ‘65. Day started with a cruise from a nearby town through picturesque countryside then into Victor, parking alongside the Hotel. Day was overcast with several showers and some hail hence the quick drying off with a chamois. Was trying to show Jo how she should do this, but was promptly told “ not my job”. Tough to get good help these days! Attendance was down but quality of the cars on show was first class. rodneybeauchamp Posted October 1, 2018 Share Posted October 1, 2018 (edited) Spent a few days in Penola, in an 1850’s weatherboard cottage in Petticoat Lane. The Lane has several cottages that have been restored and open to view how people lived back then. The bloomers on the washing line add to the scene. The Alpacca was most impressed with our Riviera parked outside too, probably the first one he has seen. Anyway a few photos. And for those with a sharp eye will notice the new improved exhaust tips! I love this 225 but the plastic dash and (non-linear) rear bumper is too much a departure from the original design of a ‘67. There is a mint ‘67 out west but it has aftermarket knee knockin’ A.C. and he wants 26G I do appreciate the link! I believe we had 13 Riviera's and about 19 owners in attendance. Thankfully the rain held off and everyone admired each other's cars and shared a great meal together.
