rocketraider Posted May 23, 2010 Share Posted May 23, 2010 I think you've rebuilt this engine? If so you can run 30w or 10W30 successfully since straight 20w oil is not easily found. Tractor Supply Co is the only place around here that stocks it, and then only in their Traveller house brand. Oldsmobile and others recommended use of 20w oil on into the late 1960s for ambient temperatures above freezing, or alternately 10W30.The Chevy dealer in South Boston used 20w in all their service work, and if a car came in for excessive oil consumption, the first thing they did was change oil and filter using Sinclair 20w oil. If oil consumption hadn't decreased dramatically after two oil changes, then they would tear into the engine. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
