Restoring Pitted Lamp

Recommended Posts

I recently got this gas tail light and sandblasted off the bad paint job. As you can see, it's heavily rust-pitted. Any suggestions for the best way to remove the pitting? My thought would be to prime and then apply Nitro-Stan and wet sand it, or put body putty on the bare metal before priming.

Phil -- Gas lamps sometimes get very hot, with variations of heat depending on the particular design. Consider this when you fill the pits. The optimum would be metal filling but also the most time consuming to bring back to the original level. I don't envy your work ahead. --Bob
