Lost Ignition key

I lost the ignition key to my 91 Reatta. It was the only one I had. I went to the local dealer and they made me a new one to match my VIN but it didn't work. I'm guessing I have to get a new ignition but I don't know what all I need and what year Reatta or Riviera I could get everything out of or how to replace it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

did you know what the resistor reading was for your car? If not did the dealer know the resistor reading? I would say that you just have a badly made key.

I had a locksmith come and he said he had to put in a new ignition and so he did all that but couldn't get the steering wheel back on. Should be an easy fix in the morning and I should be back on the road tomorrow though.

Both the key profile and it's resistor value must match the unique design of the ignition lock. Starting the car with a key from another Reatta would be like winning a lottery. Unlikely scenerio.
