1928 Dodge Victory Six

Recommended Posts

I am at at standstill with a restoration of a 1928 Dodge Victory 6. I can't seem to find a starter replacement. Is there any alternative starters that will work? Someone said a starter for a small Caterpillar will work but didn't know a part number. I'm not sure about that but any suggestions will be appreciated.

1928 Dodge Victory six starter is a Northeast Model SBH Type 604.

This info is from the National Service Data Book.

Sorry but my interchange book only goes back to 1930.

My Chilton interchange manual for 1927 to 1933 shows a match with the 28 Dodge 128 and standard six, 28 Graham model 614, and 28 Reo Wolverine. They specifically list the starter armature and starter drive for the match rather than the starter assembly. Apparently the Northeast units were not too common. Good luck!

New non potmetal starter endplates have been made for the Victory Six NE starters. I don't know what the current availability is but check with Romar. They specialize in DB parts. Also the technical person at the Dodge Brothers Club should be able to help you find a source.
