Will a Chevy Starter Work in my Pontiac?

I need a starter for my '47 Pontiac six. I found a rebuilt starter for a '47 Chevy, and am wondering if this is the same as the Pontiac starter. They appear to be identical.

Should not be the same because they are not for the same side of the engine.

But I'm curious about the "motor" of it. It maybe the same, so you can certainly use the chevy starter "motor" with your Pontiac starter "correct side nose".

For me the solenoïde is the same.

Unfortunately, my problem is not with the motor, but with the drive. It looks like I'll be sending my starter to the shop for repairs. $$$
