What type of shock oil?

Recommended Posts

I believe GM was using Lovejoy Hydralic shock absorber fluid in the 30's.

Genuine Delco Lovejoy shock absorber fluid in mineral oil known as Ice machine oil. There was also Knee Action Oil that Chevrolet and Pontiac used that is exactly the same as Lovejoy Hydralic shock absorber fluid , Ice machine oil.

Ice machine oil is a non-viscous, neutral, hydrocarbon oil of asphalt base having a thickness of 100 seconds Saybot at 100 degrees, refered to as 100 at 100 neutral oil.

Quoted from Ketch's Automotive Handbook 1936.

I think that this is the same as 3 in one oil.
