correct headlight confusion, 38 Zephyr

I picked up a 1938 Zephyr Coupe and have been collecting the missing pieces. I have a question on my headlight bezels and lenses. The trim bezels appear to fit the fenders correctly. But the lenses I bought, that were sold as being for 1938 are an half inch short on the length on filling the trim rings. The lenses do have the Lincoln Zephyr Logo. The exposed length of the lenses is 10-1/4". The inside length of the bezel is 10-7/16" So do I have the wrong lenses or the wrong bezels?? Thanks, Jeff

If you take a look at my Webshots Photo album of my 1939 Zephyr at:

http://community.webshots.com/album/73152974bRlXIf

you will see photos of the differences between 1938 and 1939 Lincoln Zephyr headlights.

1939 lenses have '96H' cast at the bottom of the lens.

1938 lenses are '86H'.

The bezels are different too.

There are also photos of 1938 and 1939 Zephyrs at my Webshots photo album of the 2005 LZOC meet at Carlsbad, California at:

May I recommend that you join the Lincoln Zephyr Owners Club. There is a great wealth of information available in the club.

An on-line application is on the LZOC website at www.lzoc.org.

I hope this helps!

I've seen some lenses that look very good but don't have the 86H or 96H at the lower edge.

Attached are some photos of the subtle differences between 1938 and 1939 Lincoln Zephyr headlight lenses and bezels.

Merv Adkins ("Sources" window at www.lzoc.org ) should have some 1938 Zephyr headlight bezels.
